This is a re-post, from 2014. These images never get dull! They were taken by the great Cartier-Bresson at the Vel d’Hiv in Paris, infamous for the The Vel’ d’Hiv’ Roundup, which was the mass arrest of foreign Jewish families by French police and gendarmes at the behest of the German authorities, that took place in Paris on 16 and 17 July 1942.
Oh my god these are so gorgeous. HC-B is my favorite photographer, did not know he did these. Who owns the rights? Thanks, -Rick

These photo’s were taken in the Vel d’Hiv in Paris a couple of years before it was no more. This velodrome was filled with history – and not all pleasant, The place really is worth an article in its own right – there is plenty of detail available on the net re its history. The excellent film “Sarah’s Key” touches on it’s darkest hour, and is well worth a watch….
