INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER DREAMS UP WILD CONCEPT BICYCLES INSPIRED BY SPORTS CARS

‘I don’t care if people do not like my designs,’ says Vasili Zygouris.

Which is a good thing, as many people do little more than complain about them, for not having brakes for example, or integrated lights in the handle bars.

Zygouris is an engineer and industrial designer who lost his job in 2020, so as a hobby he started designing concept bicycles based on famous car designs. He now has his own brand and can be contacted here for collaborations.

Zygouris grew up in Greece, where he decided as a child that he wanted to become a pro MTB rider, but his real passion turned out to be bicycle design.  “It stuck in my mind that this is what I wanted to do in the future,” he said. “I think the passion started from back then.”

He posts the images to his Instagram, where he has 55,000 followers. So far only one of his designs has become reality, the purple CobraRace. He made 5 and sold 4, each for 29,000 euros, and kept one.

Of this chrome creation, he states that he took the Koeningsegg CC850 as inspiration.
‘My inspiration was the most powerful “manual” production car.. the @koeningsegg CC850.. I tried to bring the aesthetics and smooth proportions of the cc850 on a TT bike.. The minimalistic approach and the aerodynamic organic form makes this bike look like an absolute weapon.’

  1. Hi Lee,

Thanks for reposting the Cycling News article about my work but there are some changes you made which are not based in what I provided to my interview with Cycling News… I have my own brand and I don’t look for a position as a bike designer, instead it will be more than welcome to collaborate with them. Moreover I am engineer and industrial designer.. not a graphic designer. Thank you anyway but it would be great to make these changes since the interview was with Cycling News and not with you guys. Thanks, Vasili Design.
