PETER SAGAN IS BACK! FORMER WORLD CHAMP WINS AT TOUR DE SUISSE

Well, it’s been a while since Peter Sagan won a race of any kind, 9 months in fact and over a year at the WorldTour level, but he was back ti his winning ways on Stage 3 of the 2022 Tour de Suisse.

Only 32 years of age, Sagan’s star has definitely faded in the past year or two (due to injuries and a loss of form), and with the likes of WVA, VDP, Remco and Pidcock very much stealing his the Slovak’s thunder, it’s great to see him coming back to good for, ahead of the upcoming Tour de France.

Comparing Sagan to Cavendish, who is 37, there should be a good few years – and wins – left in his legs should he have the motivation to continue racing.

What was encouraging was that to win this sprint he had to beat Pidcock (and what a versatile rider he is btw), Kristoff, Coquard and Aranbaru, showing he’s still got the class to win against top level competition.

Let’s see what he can do at the Tour, some wins would be great, if only to see more interviews with him…
