yeah, it’s just not doing it for me, the ‘biggie’ that opens up The Monuments season.
you can read why here on PezCycling News.
here’s a snippet:
Ready for some blasphemy? Ok, well, Milan-San Remo is a little boring.
There, I’ve said it now, it’s out there and I can’t take it back.
It’s like the bloated uncle sat loosening his belt after too much turkey and stuffing at Thanksgiving. It’s a Hummer in a car park full of thoroughbred race cars. It’s that kid that can’t play football that is still left standing there, alone at the end, every time you pick teams…

It’s just a matter of time before pro bike racers stop shaving their legs.
make them ride with mirrors i say. and a thermos of sweet tea.
I really think you are way off the mark here. Yes, this year’s race tilted to slightly sprinters and was not as good as previous years because of the route reverting to the pre-2008 route due to road closures, however having a stage in which a GC rider like Nibali can give it a red hot go is great. Milan-San Remo has been a highlight in previous few years, IMHO. The “piddling little climbs” are normally incredibly well balanced to create a suspenseful finish, and with Pompeiana added and Le Mànie back in next year, I hopefully look forward to an even better-balanced suspenseful finish.
Gotta agree with Tim, I just love it and partly because it’s a little bit different to anything else. I mean, it’s not as though us spectators have to sit and watch the first 5 hrs (let alone in the rain/snow whatever…). Just to see Cav and Sagan totally unable to sprint in their normal way, with the finish just a couple of hundred meters up the road, tells me everything about what a brute of a race this is… a true Monument in my view. Leave it alone.
haha ok i will do – til next year! we’re all entitled to our opinions (even though mine are always right) and i thank you for leaving comments guys!
(by the way i was laughing as i typed that…!)
