Taylor Price of Crank Punk Coaching Systems wins both races at Giro d’Italia ‘Ride Like A Pro’ in Shanghai!

Yes, get in!

Coming the back of an already successful year, my CPCS client Taylor Price last week won the amateur criterium event and the 70km road race at the Giro d’Italia ‘Ride Like A Pro’ event in Shanghai.

In the 25km criterium Taylor, native of Utah and now living in Shanghai where he works for Specialized, attacked from the gun and after 5km sat up for his teammate to bridge over, then rode over the line in first. In the 70km road race he was similarly aggressive in his riding and attacked after 15km and soloed home to finish well clear of the two chasers.

Rather humorously he finished top of the leaderboard for the Strava segment from the day. Not surprising seeing as he won, right? Well, in fact, also there on the day were 16 retired professionals who left the start line 20 mins before the whopping 1,700 other riders in Taylor’s race. Taylor’s winning time beat out all the pros, putting him 19 seconds ahead of a certain Alberto Contador, followed by the likes of Purito Rodriguez, Robbie McEwen and Ivan Basso.

Not too shabby there TP!

To follow that, he and his team just missed out on the TTT at the same event by ten seconds to China’s top team, and then went on to claim 4th in a 112km L’Etape event on Chenjiang, with 2200m of climbing, to bring his season finally to an end.

Chapeau, sir!
