I’d never heard of them til a friend mentioned them – now I want one.

Only working in steel, Victoire’s builders combine traditional craftsmanship with modern fabrication techniques. The welds on these frames are beautiful, very svelte indeed.
‘The choice of steel for our bikes has not been made by default. It’s the material that possesses the best mechanic properties, the one that offers the more flexibility in terms of design and it is also the most environmentally responsible,’ reads the website.

Each bike is developed through close discussion with the rider, accounting for body geometry, riding style, technical needs, and aesthetics. In fact, you have to go their company in France, in person, for a full day of discussion on exactly what bike, and feel you need, including a measuring session.

Sustainability is central to Victoire’s approach, with the use of renewable energy, and a lifetime warranty for the first owner, which makes the 10,000 Euro (at least) price tag a tad more bearable.

If that’s too much for you and a long wait time might drive you potty, Victoire have started a new line of ‘ready made handmade bikes’ – called Distance – using the same techniques for a chunk less – see them here.
