IN DRUST WE TRUST – Drust Bicycles, that is…

This guy’s bikes popped up on a feed somewhere, think from the Radivist, and I just love the look of them, they look so tough and yet so playful, and they make perfect sense too, for bombing around the city with a bunch of rowdy legume, feisty baguettes, or even a crazy cocker of Spaniels.

Tucked away in a small Berlin workshop, Drust Bicycles builds bikes for people with an eye for style that are looking for utility. You might call these ‘working bikes’, as you would call a Border Collie a worklng dog.

Founded by framebuilder Konstantin Drust, the brand has earned a quiet reputation among cycling enthusiasts for its thoughtful designs and precise craftsmanship. Rather than chasing performance metrics or trends, Drust focuses on something more enduring: the relationship between a rider and a well-made machine.

Most of the work revolves around steel, chosen for its ride quality, strength, and longevity. Drust uses tubes from respected suppliers like Columbus, Dedacciai, and Reynolds.

What makes Drust’s work distinctive is the willingness to experiment. Over the years, the workshop has produced everything from cargo bikes and commuters to folding frames and bikepacking rigs. One of the most talked-about creations, the “Doggo Cargo,” reimagines a cargo bike as a rolling home for yer pooch. In 2023, this bike actually won Best In Show at Crufts the Bespoke Handmade Bike Show.

The workshop produces only a handful of frames each year, prioritizing hands-on fabrication and direct relationships with riders.

Sounds a bit like my tour company, KOJO Collective…! (Shameless, yes I am).

So yeah I like these. I will be doing more features on these custom builders soon, thanks for reading!
