DAVE ‘THE SMASH’ NASH / TOP 10 FINISH at CHEAHA WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

I’ve been coaching Dave Nash, who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, for I’d say a good three years now and he’s a delight to work with. Diligent, motivated, hungry, willing to give it all, and he has a great capacity to ‘self-coach’ and listen to his body, which is a huge help to any coach.

Late last week he headed to Alabama to take part in his second Cheaha Gran Fondo World Series event, a tough 160km route with 3000m of elevation.

Despite having a rough couple of weeks preceding the event, due to work commitments, Dave managed to improve on last year’s time by 20 minutes and take 10th in his age group.

Dave’s tight work schedule and sometimes short time to train means we have to be creative, especially considering that his race program this season consists of short races and long – over 200km in one case. But, we get it done, and the improvements keep coming.

Almost as good as this result is the result got in the Utah Crit Series last Tuesday!

Despite having very little experience racing crits, Dave managed to take 2nd on the night, a cracking result – though he did say ‘I could have won it’ – so, some work to do still!

And how good is this photo?

Well done Dave..!
