The Doc on the left
My CPCs client Arvind ‘The Doc’ Bhateja put in a cracking performance at the recent Bangalore Bicycle Champs over the weekend to take a fine 3rd place in the Masters cat.
The Doc’s podium placing came after a string of fine rides that have seen him take chunks of time off his old PB on the very hill (Nandi Mountain) that the BBC race finished on, and also after a quite mad spell during which he set himself the task of completing 50 Nandi ascents over 90 days.
This ride is particularly pleasing however as it marks a very significant improvement in overall form from when Arvind first came to me, a period which saw him have some very serious back surgery, amongst other issues.
I always stress the need for consistency, and once we got over the various niggles (some bigger than others), The Doc put his head down, got on with the training which was designed to work on his weak points, rested well and turned into somewhat of a monster!
So, well done sir, may we long crank on!
Arvind with an ice cream truck hot on his tail… apologies, ambulance!
