It raise the question of why the UCI is acting like that , who’s gaining an interest in that. My guess , no one

The UCI probably prefers to give the impression they’re doing something by releasing the A-sample results. Santambrogio apparently has a clear positive after his b-sample was tested and is assisting the UCI so his ban length hasn’t been determined. Given the Mantova case and this EPO catch, I do wonder how much he should have a ban reduced for cooperating given he clearly didn’t think a lucky escape was good enough.

Now, the Chinese clenbuterol case, that’s a different matter. Very interested to see how the UCI handle it.

i want to know where these two ate beef, who else had beef when they did, who else was tested, and how many riders refrained from eating meat when in China. it’s beyond my level of comprehension that a rider would risk beef there, yet also baffles me why a rider would take a drug that is considered illegal at such minute amounts. seems out of kilter to punish a rider for such small amounts of a drug like this yet to have other drugs that do far more to assist a rider to win and be competitive still as yet not banned.

Just because a small amount of a drug was found in the rider, doesn’t mean they only took a small amount. It just means that’s all that was left by the time they were caught. And with micro-dosing there may never be large quantities in the rider at any one time.

I know this reply is a bit late, but we all know teams travel together and eat together. Why didn’t the team mates test positive?

it’s a fair question. and another is, if you’re inclined to dope and going to China, why not take Clenbuterol beforehand? nothing would surprise me these days…
