I made the statement based on the fact that she tested positive in 1987, but the French Federation refused to sanction her.

Actually, the more I think about this the more cycling looks just like modern day international politics. Hypocrisy, amnesia, selective hearing, gutless self interest, money, greed, avarice. I am hoping that at least with cycling, the public pressure (formerly known as democracy) will have more ability to act as a purgative and rid the sport of the institutionalised parasites and hypocrites.

Cycling can have no credibilty for as long as Riis is in the sport.
Trouble is – where do you stop with guilt by association. Roche senior was stated as doper by a judge.
Where do you stop withexclusion. Commentators? . Sean Kelly and Virenque are past dopers
Team managements? Vinokourov is still unrepetentant.

        Agreed.
One of the guys to see if you can get an interview is Michael Ashenden
        Bet he has some stories.
The way they tried to gag him with “confidentiality” because of acting as expert is dire. Also the way they tied his hands behind his back over contador : was not allowed to introduce evidence that proved blood bag plasticisers. The sport is still frightened of the truth. There is created amnesia of current events let alone history,

It would seem that there needs to be some sort of even handedness when it comes to the treatment of drug cheats, people like Armstrong and Leipheimer have a name that will be worth money even if they can’t ride, but the lesser known cyclists who get banned or kicked off teams will lose their livelihood with no other recourse.
The issue was systemic, but the reaction is completely ad-hoc.
