    I hope the glory days are not over for Phil Gil. The bigwigs at BMC should let him train and prepare in his own way – as their way hasn’t been any good. Riders are not robots and bike racing is far from a pure science.

    I think he has a shot at Milan-San Remo, he’s been in the winning move before but has been outsprinted. If he can get lucky and get in the right move he can do it. His downturn in fortune could also help him – the Gilbert on 2011 form no body would let go, but Gilbert Version 2013 – go ahead and get a gap. It’s a big year 2014 for him but he’s not a finished man in my book.

      i think now that Sagan is around there’s a guy who can ‘out-Gilbert’ Gilbert! and if it’s a sprint he’ll win that too…
