“i could go on miles and miles on one of these, father!” opines the young lad in this delightful 1945 film dirtected by Norman Lee. set in the Raleigh factory in Nottingham – which stood until 1996 – the film traces the path that a bicycle takes (or rather, took) from drawing board to final testing. after having been to a few ultra-modern frame building and finishing factories, it’s surprising just how little has changed in the process since the film was made – you don’t see anyone grinding down the forks anymore but other than that there are quite a few similarities.<\/p>\n

another bonus of this film is the selection of awesome 40’s haircuts on display.<\/p>\n
