Luis Carlos Chia had barely celebrated taking victory in the third stage of Vuelta a Colombia a before the high-speed crash. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
HIs wife was knocked unconscious in the horror crash but recovered later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Luis told a Colombian newspaper after the smash: ‘I wanted to brake but the bike didn’t respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I hit my wife but it could have just as easily have been another person,’ he said after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe knew there was going to be a sprint and I don\u2019t understand why she didn\u2019t get out of the way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
