RIDER REACTION / STAGE 12 TOUR DE FRANCE / INEOS GRENADIER TOM PIDCOCK WINS ON ALPE D’HUEZ

What a stunning ride from Tom Pidcock in his first ever Tour de France, and that by the way was his first ever World Tour win!

Many more to come from the lad from Leeds, England I feel, and some see his as a genuine GC contender – time shall tell!

Let’s take a look at some rider reactions to the stage.

  1. I agree with Pidcock and Thomas that some of the behaviour on Alpe D’Huez has become “ridiculous”. I think it detracts from the brilliance of the racing on this climb and in parts it’s almost as if the crowds have become the spectacle with the riders as the sideshow. I’d like to see many more fenced sections to prevent riders being hit or brought down…

    1. Why they have to wave their flags right in front of the riders’ faces is beyond me, they could so easily get caUght up in the spokes of snag the bars. Also the ‘pats’ on the back, not all looked soft and must have the riders flinching. It’s mob mentality and yes it’s been going on for years but for some reason, maybe Covid has something to do with it, there was an intensity to the fans on the Alpe stage that was menacing at times. Not cool at all! And thanks for the comment asmyoldmumsays 😉
